On behalf of The Midwest Hockey Program we would like to release the following message:
Please know that the safety of our players, coaches and parents is paramount and top of mind as this unfolds.
At present, the risk in Minnesota is low according to medical experts. We will continue to monitor this evolving COVID-19 situation and evolve with it. This is a very fluid situation and all of our teams continue to take in new information and announcements as they come in from health professionals.
At this time however, we will be suspending all practices until March 22, allowing us to monitor the situation further and make the appropriate decisions regarding our participants safety. Our plan is to monitor the situation on a week to week basis. We have not made any decisions on postponing our tournaments, we will continue to monitor this situation and make an educated and informed decision.
Our events are spread over 20 sheets of ice across the city, allowing for small groups of people well under what other sport and music events would be. We will work diligently with our facilities to heighten hand washing and cleaning protocols and pay particular attention to our high traffic, high public contact areas.
We are recommending the following protocols be followed at all hockey activities:
Again, the health and safety of our participants is paramount and we will continue to follow the recommendations given by public health.
We understand this is a stressful time and that you will have questions. On a weekly basis we will provide an update regarding the status and trends of the virus; the changes in travel policies as well as the developing plans for our spring season and tournaments. If alternative plans become necessary we will advise as soon as reasonably possible.
We thank you for your understanding, support and patience during this time.
